We are beginning to write our names in nursery as we are now able to recognise them. We used our name cards to copy letters from our name.

Our year 2s got chatty making their chatter box’s today! They made them very colourful and shared some very kind  and positive comments to each other!

We have been practising our use of line and shape in art this week, by drawing polar bears using our observational skills. We started with a small circle in the middle of the page to create the nose, and then worked our way out, adding further circles for the head, eyes and ears. We drew curved…

This week we have been tracing around different shapes. We have then practised forming the shapes independently. Our pencil grips have improved so much since September and our control with a pencil is always improving.

We wrote simple captions to describe the character, 'Jack Frost'. Within our captions, we used different adjectives to describe and applied our Phase 2/Phase 3 phonics to spell. We are becoming much more independent when using a finger space between words.

Here are our year 2s getting super creative with the play dough! We had some very interesting and detailed models!

Today we made our sandwiches for the Teddy Bears Picnic. We washed our hands and talked about the importance of this, chose our fillings and then used the knife to spread and cut, developing our fine motor skills. 

It was super fun and they very very tasty!

We created winter art this week, using watercolours to create a background. We then  glued silhouettes on top to create a winter scene! 

Our FS funky fingers got busy with the plasticine and enjoyed making lots of shapes and figures!

Today in literacy we have been focusing on forming the letters c, an and o. We began by tracing the letters before having a go at forming them ourselves. This is a real focus currently as the children are building up to being able to write captions and full sentences. We love writing in reception!

We launched the Red2Blue initiative in school today. In Reception, we discussed what it means to have a 'red head' and a 'blue head'. We read the story 'My Monster and Me' and discussed ways that we can move from a red head to a blue head. We used a blue crayon to draw things that make us feel…

We got creative by making our own Christmas/winter cards this week. We used a sponge to print paint on the front cover, creating the outline of a snowman. We then used glue to add finer details to our design. Inside our cards, we wrote a message to our loved ones. We can't wait to take them home…
