To all parents and carers,

Well what a fantastic two weeks we have had. We have had trips out of school, the pupils of Year 5 have moved into their new classrooms and had visitors come to Waterside to see our exceptional standards. I am delighted to say that in true Waterside fashion, the children simply shone and showed why our school is outstanding. They are just a privilege to educate. You should be very proud as parents.

We have now approached the Department of Education to look at becoming an academy. This was agreed by the headteacher board. We have arranged for Shaw Education Trust, a multi academy trust, who reviewed the school and its current performance to come and speak with parents. This will allow parents to see the vision and values of the trust – which are perfectly aligned to our standards and expectations.

I am aware this last couple of weeks I have not been in school as much as I normally would. This is due to us being asked to co-run Waterside with a Staffordshire school in Kidsgrove. We will be working closely with Kidsgrove Primary to raise the standards in line with Waterside. I will be overseeing both of the schools as interim Executive Headteacher. This will offer some excellent opportunities for collaboration between both schools and also high school links with Kidsgrove High for our pupils of Waterside.

As you will see, the building work is now nearly complete. The next phase is the new school hall – offering extra sports facilities. The building site is now being cleared and we are approx. 1-2 weeks away from clearance. This will mean the drop off zone etc will be fully open to help support congestion. Texts will be sent to inform parents. Should you have any questions or concerns come and see myself, a senior leader or the class teacher immediately.
