To all parents and carers,

I am delighted that the school Ofsted report has now been shared with the Waterside Community. A separate letter and copy of the report are being copied and sent to all families of the Waterside community. It is to be published live on the 20th June on the Ofsted website. I am delighted to say that Waterside Primary School was graded OUTSTANDING in all areas of the framework. This is exemplary practice and something at Waterside we have strived for and been anticipating for a long time. Your children shone as always during inspection and showcased the level of education they receive daily. The staff of Waterside are incredible and work so hard to ensure every child has the best education they can – to transform lives and create the future of society.

Attendance was much improved last week. Most children were at school on time. We will be continued to address lateness. It has been published on the school website – the local authority procedures for attendance, holidays and lateness. It is essential that children are in school daily and on time to minimise risks of fines. This is the last thing we want for any of our families but also have to follow the local authority policies as a maintained school.

This last two weeks I have been out on inspection for Ofsted and also working with a Birmingham secondary school. This has resulted in additional funding over nearly £4,000 into school and I will be ensuring it makes a difference to your children. We are going to be purchasing new books for our Key Stage 1 newly furnished library area. If you have good quality books that could go into the library that are not used. Please donate them. It creates an opportunity for another child to be absorbed in the imaginary world of reading and supports learning of all areas of the curriculum. Bring them into the office and thank you in advance.

Last week, it was the phonics screening testing week for Year 1. Our children were sensational and did shine and show why phonics is a strength of Waterside. Results will be shared with parents in July but I assure you they were incredible.
