A short, but sweet first week back in Dolphin Class!

A slightly shorter first week back blog, due to our learning only covering three days this week, but we still packed lots in!

In our English learning, we have began to investigate our new text, 'The wonderful wizard of Oz' by L. Frank Baum. We have completed three days of book talk activities, firstly predicting using our inference skills based on our book cover, then immersing our selves in the text to discover characters, settings and plots, before finally using our summarising skills to explain the opening events of the book.  We have really enjoyed the opening section and are looking forward to reading more next week!

Our maths learning has seen us re-cap and revisit our previous decimals learning. We began the week by completing small revision tasks to help 'wake' our brains back up to decimal work, before moving onto partitioning, and then comparing and ordering. Our arithmetic work has helped to further cement this knowledge, as we have been converting fractions into decimals.

During our afternoon sessions this week, we've began to look at several new topics, including Andy Warhol in art, completing research and creating fact files, places of worship in RE, investigating features and recapping the water cycle in our geography learning.

It has been lovely to welcome the Dolphins back to school this week and I'm amazed at how much they've grown in just two weeks!

Have a lovely week, love from Dolphin Class. xx
