We have completed another amazing week this Autumn term. Take a look below to see what we have been learning about.

Writing

In Grammar this week we have been focusing on using different sentence types: statement sentences, command sentences, exclamation sentences, and question sentences. This week in writing we have continued to prepare for our independent write which is a third-person narrative retell of our class text ' The Lost Happy Endings`. At the beginning of the week, we looked at the 'H` paragraph in our DASH narrative structure, using a range of 'show not tell` to express how are characters were feeling. We have also been exploring three different sentence structures: 'the more, the more`, 'verb, person`, and simile sentences. Towards the end of the week, we have planned our independent write using high-level vocabulary. I am very much looking forward to reading the children's writing on Friday!

Maths

In Maths this week we have learning a new concept of Roman numerals and securing our knowledge of Addition and Subtraction. We began the week by looking at how to read and write Roman Numerals. Year 4 Stingrays have really impressed us with their excellence in these lessons! Well done, Stingrays! We have also learnt a roman numerals song and we had some fantastic performances in front of the class. After Roman numerals we consolidated the skill of adding 1, 10 and 100 to 2, 3 and even 4-digit numbers. This lesson has helped us to prepare for some challenging addition which will introduced next week.

Science

In Science this week we have continued our topic entitled 'Animals including humans'. This week we enjoyed learning all about human teeth and their functions.  We learnt some high-level vocabulary: incisors, molars, canines and premolars. We were very enthusiastic about participating in an apple eating task to see which teeth we use to bite the apple and which we use to chew!
