To all parents and carers,

The children are settled and learning well in class. I have to say all of the children new to school have begun with confidence and swiftly learning the Waterside way. Over the next few weeks we have visitors into Waterside for workshops, Year 5 and 6 visiting the safety workshops and Year 1 have already been into the local community engaging in their local area study. Experiences are essential for our school curriculum as we believe your children learn best by going out and seeing all the wonders of the world first hand. It is most exciting.

This week we have welcome some new teachers to our team due to our school expanding. They are incredible and so we have an exciting 12 months of learning for all children.

Last week we spoke to the children about the importance of 100% attendance. This year, we will be running a prize box for each class for 100% attendance. Each half term the best class will also win an all expenses trip from PSFA funds for being at school every day. Attendance is vital to ensure not only your child thrives academically but also socially. A reminder term time holidays are not authorised and we advise you book in the school holidays only. I can confirm that over the summer over 7 families have received fines. The money does not come to school it goes to the local authority. Therefore, avoid fines by not booking holidays when the children should be at school. We have term dates on the school website for this academic year and 2019/2020.

This week we will be sending out the after school clubs for children along with parent workshops for parents to attend. The booking of activities will be on a first come first serve as they are extremely popular.

Should you have any questions please do come and ask.
