Mud painting!
Today in Forest School, after school club we made our own paint using mud! We dug for mud, mixed with water and painted pictures. We also hunted for bugs, we are starting to be able to name some bugs now. The rain came but we still had fun!
Amazing artists!
Today we have been exploring different mediums. We have used pencils/handwriting pens to complete observational drawings of the objects we collected last week to create replicas of Andy Goldsworthy’s work. Today we focused on continual line drawing and the results were fantastic.
Exploring the woods
Today we explored Trentmill Nature Reserve to help us with our setting description. We described what we say, what we heated and what we felt.
Forest school, nature hunt!
Year 2’s first session, we explored our out door area hunting for leaves, twigs, birds, rocks, flowers and bugs! We had great fun!

Fantastic flexible partitioning
In maths we used the base ten to help us flexibly partition numbers to 100. We created two groups and wrote the number sentences. This helped us see that numbers can be made up in different ways.

We used base 10 to help us to flexibly partitioning numbers to 100 in lots of different ways. The practical apparatus helped us in securing our knowledge and understanding.
E safety
In computing today we used the I pads to help us search safely online. We used purple mash to search different topics and apply filters.
Gymnastics
Today we’ve had our first gymnastics lesson. We learnt all different gymnastic shapes including the pike, squat and dish. We had great fun practising our new skills!
Maths Fun
Today we’ve enjoyed completing Maths activities for our lesson. We used our addition, subtraction and multiplication skills to solve problems, play games and to create colourful mosaics.
Piet Mondrian in ICT
In our ICT lessons, year 2 have been looking at the artwork of Piet Mondrian and trying to recreate his artwork using the laptops and tablets. You can see from some of the children’s work that this is an artist who used lots of lines and bold colours in his paintings.
