Today we looked at the signs of autumn and how we know the seasons are changing. We then went out and looked at the signs of autumn around our school. We saw brown and orange leaves, berries growing on the trees and also discussed the weather.

We have chosen some of our favourite books to read in nursery. We talked about what we like about them, characters and key events in the story. 
pit was lovely to hear the children recalling the stories and discussing their interests with friends. 

We have had a walk to the local park and taken the bear with us. We had lots of fun and so did the bear! When we got back to School, we realised that we had left the bear at the park! Oh no! 

Today we reread the story ‘Whatever Next!’. We recapped the features of a book including the title and the blurb and then used props and character masks to act out different parts of the story. We considered how the characters would have been feeling and thinking. 

Today in maths we have been representing numbers within 3! We are super mathematicians in reception.

This week we enjoyed the play dough. We used our fine motor skills to manipulate the dough to make different features of our face. We then talked about our families and the children started to make their family members.

This week we have been learning all about our families. Who is in our family?
We drew pictures from memory and with the support of some images from home of who is part of our family. 
We learnt everybody’s family is different. 

The children used the pictures from the story Whatever next! to sequence the story from beginning to end. They used words like beginning, middle and end and characters. We really focused on the story and retelling it in our own words once we had sequenced it correctly. 

This week we have been learning about our emotions through the story ‘The Colour Monster’. We enjoyed reading the story and hearing about the different emotions we may feel. We talked about what things may make us feel a type of way and how we express our feelings.
