Wednesday 2nd December 2020

Good morning Stingrays! I hope you are all smiling on this wonderful Wednesday, only 3 more days of home learning and isolation!

Today we begin with our normal spelling lesson which involves 10 minutes on Spelling Shed practising your weekly spellings. Why not create a hive with your friends?

Now spend the other 10 minutes unscrambling these words to make your spellings!

Today's Grammar lesson will really help you with your English work today as you are learning about using inverted commas to show direct speech.

Your LbQ code is:

n z f

Next up, English. I'm really looking forward to seeing all of your work over these next 2 weeks as you begin to write a third person narrative.

Today, you are looking at using speech effectively and the impact this has on the reader. I have attached a short YouTube video below to go through today's lesson, please remember all this is to help you at home. You are all doing amazing so keep it up!

Now it is Reading and today you will be completing your reading questions on the McDonalds Christmas Advert. Watching this really makes me want a McDonalds, enjoy!

Are you #ReindeerReady? 10p from every download of @Becky Hill Official's beautiful rendition of Forever Young will go to FareShare UK - download it here: ht...

After your break, it is now time to get those brains working again for our Maths lesson!

Today, we are learning about translation (not the Google translation kind though!)

Take a look at the YouTube video below to help you in your lesson today :-)

Y6 Stingrays - Wednesday 2nd December - Maths

Now for Arithmetic today, you will be rounding. It has been quite a while since we last looked at rounding so look at the prompt below to help you!

For today's mindfulness, you are going to try muscle relaxation.
When tensions are running high, lie on the floor and starting from your toes, tense your muscles for 5 seconds – squeezing as tightly as you can – before releasing again. Continue all the way up the body, even scrunching your facial muscles to relieve any tension from the day.

Now you are relaxed, let's start the afternoon lessons!

You have PSHE from 2:15 - 2:45 and today you will be learning about the human cycle of life.

From 2:45 - 3:15, please spend this time finishing off any Encompass or Science work from Monday or Tuesday. Why not try the 'Going Deeper' challenged to stretch your learning even further!

If you have finished all of your work, spend this time to express your learning from Encompass and Science in the form of a Pic Collage, song or even a video!

Have fun and enjoy!

To finish off this Wednesday, as always, grab yourself a book (or log in to Bug Club) and have 15 minutes quiet reading. Reading is so important as it opens up your imagination even further and allows you to magpie ideas from authors!

Congratulation on another brilliant day of home learning Stingrays! We're so close to the end of our isolation, keep going!

Take care, Miss Joinson x
