Good morning Year 1! :) We are half way through the week! Thank you for your continued hard work at home, and for sending your work into your teachers. Before we start our learning today, we are going to warm up with the Cha Cha Slide - let's see how much you can remember about direction from our maths lessons this week!
Hopefully we are now awake and ready to learn. We will begin our learning today with some phonics. In phonics, we are focusing on the 'ey' sound as in 'key'. Follow the flipchart to complete the activities.
In English, we are continuing with our work on Owl Babies.
This week, we are writing a non-chronological report about Barn Owls. Today, we are going to be writing about the appearance of Barn Owls, focusing on adjectives.
Break time (10:30 - 10:45)
Well done Year 1, you are doing a great job, now time for a well-deserved break.
Grab yourself a drink and a snack and give yourself a brain break
Today in Maths, we are going to be learning about different turns as part of our work on position and direction. We will be exploring full turns, half turns and quarter turns.
Numbers and Patterns (11.45-12.00)
Today in Numbers and Patterns we are finding two more than a given number using a number line.
Lunch (12.00- 1.00)
Reading Skills (1.00-1.30)
Today in Reading Skills we are going to continue to look at the story 'Cave Baby'. We are going to look at some more VIPERS questions.
This week in Science we are going to be investigating which material is most suitable for an umbrella. We will be testing how waterproof different materials are, and will also discuss the other properties needed to make a good umbrella!
Today's story time is a book called 'The Day the Crayons Quit' by Oliver Jeffers. Sit back, relax and enjoy some relaxation after all of your hard work.
