Last week at Waterside, we were very lucky to receive a visit from our local member of Parliament, Gareth Snell.
He came to discuss democracy, the role of a member of Parliament and the importance of the representation. This visit tied in well with our current whole school topic of democracy, as we look towards creating our own democratically elected school council.
The children were treated to a brilliant assembly, in which they had to stand to speak, just as in Parliament. After the assembly Gareth held a question and answers session with our year six pupils. The children had some very interesting questions relating to the life of an MP, Gareth's various committees and of course, Brexit!
We look forward to welcoming Gareth back later in the school year, when he will be supporting the growth of the school council.
