Please recap all phase 2 sounds and memory words and if you child is ready begin focusing on phase 3.
Today we would like the children to focus on their writing, many are very confident with their segmenting and blending of phase 2 words and now we need to get the children's writing to match.
I will put many tasks below as the children are at many stages of their writing journey so please choose what is best for your child, if you are unsure then please just ask.
If your child is still developing their reading skills then they will not yet be ready to write words as you have to be able to read it before you can write it, these children can practise their pre writing shapes and pre cursive letter formation focusing on the green caterpillar letters below. As always we expect the children to write on the line, each letter starts on the line in one fluid motion where the children do not take their pencil off the paper.
If your child is a confident reader then they can begin to write cvc (consonant/vowel/consonant) or cvcc (consonant/vowel/consonant/consonant) words. Below is an I spy for both types of words, if your child is writing cvcc words make sure they carefully listen to the sounds as they often miss the third sound out when spelling.
Some of the children may be able to big to write Phase 2 captions such as 'pots and pans', 'a hug and a kiss'. I have attached a document which you can use to help you with phase 2 captions should your child be ready for it I have also attached a sound mat as this is really useful for the children to refer to as they work independently.
