It is time for us to recap our sounds and memory words. I hope that the ones that you struggled with at the start of the week are becoming easier and you are starting to recognise these. If your child is now confident with the sounds move them on to phase 3 sounds and memory words, like yesterday. We have not looked at these in school yet so this is new learning for the children. I'm sure they will have a good go
Can your child put the memory words into a sentence verbally? The children are very good at this in school. See if they can give you a sentence using one or more of the memory words above. For example:
I went into the shop.
She was on her way to the park.
Now you have had lots of practice with letter sounds and letter names. Lets see if we can find all of the letter names for the alphabet. Below are all of our sounds. Randomly point to each one and ask your child if they can tell you its sound and its name. 'My name is A my sound is a'. If your child is struggling sing the alphabet song together until you reach the name you are struggling with.
You may want to make this activity more fun. Choose some of the sounds and place them around the house. Additionally, write the letter name to match the sound. Can your child find and match the sounds/names you have placed around the house.
For each sound you found can you think of an object with the same initial sound? write or draw a pictures next to your letter name and sound
