We will start as we always do, by recognising our own name.
By now your child should be able to recognise their own name easily from a selection of different names .
To make this a little trickier and I would like you to write some more name cards that look similar to their own names.
This will ensure that they are looking at their whole name rather than just selected letters.
Now I would like to begin phonics today with a short story about Chinese New Year.
Listen carefully because our activities today will be based around this.
I hope you enjoyed the story.
Now, we are going to try to see if we can make the same sounds that the different animals make.
Have a look at the pictures below (I have also attached this as a document below) and explore the different sounds they all make.
Send me a video of you exploring the different sounds you can make.
Finally, I would like you to think about the names of the different animals and tell your grown up what letter sounds the animals names begin with.
For example - Pig starts with a 'p' sound.
If you can do this easily, try to see what other sounds you can hear in their names by segmenting and blending. Try this with pig, ox, rat and dog.
'p-i-g'
Make sure you send me a video showing me how you get on with this. I want to give out LOTS of dojos for this tricky task.
