We ended the Autumn Term with 97.1% attendance

Phonics

 

We will start as we always do, by recognising our own name. 

Please write 5+ different name cards (including your child's name) for your child to recognise and select their own name from. 

The quantity of name cards should vary depending on how easily your child is able to recognise their own name. This should be being increased gradually. 

 

 

Today we are going to play our favourite - Silly Sound Soup!

We will be using the 'p' sound today. 

This time I would like to do it a little bit differently. I would like your grown up to gather 10 different items from around you home - 5 or 6 of which should begin with the 'p' sound (some examples- pancake, poppy, pig, panda, pen, penguin, pear, parrot, pin, peg),

the rest of the items should begin with different sounds.  

Place the items out on the table and sing our Silly Soup Song

 

"Today we're making Silly Soup, Silly Soup, Silly Soup. 
Today we're making Silly Soup, 

What's in our soup today?" 

 

I would like you to inspect the different items and have a think which ones begin with the 'p' sound. 

Sound them out to yourself - grown ups please try to encourage your child to do the sounding out by themselves. If they begin to struggle try saying the name of the object and really emphasising the first sound.  

Please ensure that you are sounding out the phoneme correctly.
