We ended the Autumn Term with 97.1% attendance

Phonics

We will start as we always do, by recognising our own name.

Please write 5+ different name cards (including your child's name) for your child to recognise and select their own name from.

The quantity of name cards should vary depending on how easily your child is able to recognise their own name. This should be being increased gradually.

Today we are going to get out our rhythm sticks! If you don't have these at home you could use wooden spoons, pencils or any other kind of sticks that you can find to make a sound with. smiley

You will need you favourite teddy bear to help your grown up, too!

You are going to explore the following words with your rhythm sticks

-Slowly

-Quickly

-Quietly

-Loudly

Your teddy bear is going to whisper some instructions to your grown up. We will begin with one word at a time, then your bear will begin to use two word instructions i.e. "slowly and quietly" - have lots of fun exploring and see what different sounds you can create.

Next, lets recap syllables. Use your rhythm sticks to tap along to the syllables in your name. Try it to all of the different names within your house or your family. Who has got the most syllables in their name?

Finally, I would like you to tap your rhythm sticks along to the video below.

Nature Jam's Preschool Prodigies Pilot - Sweet Beets - Rhythm Lesson and Song for Kids

20 minute medley | Early Years - Nursery Rhymes

Can you tap your rhythm sticks along to the beat of the songs?
