We will start as we always do by recognising our own name.
Please write 5+ different name cards (including your child's name) for your child to recognise and select their own name from.
The quantity of name cards should vary depending on how easily your child is able to recognise their own name. This should be being increased gradually.
I want to give out lots of dojo's for this task so please let me know how you get on with this task.
This morning for phonics we are going to focus on developing our Alliteration skills.
Have a look at the pictures below and see if you can think of an alliteration to describe the pictures. The first one has been shown as an example - 'Blue bee'
If your child is not able to identify any alliterative sounds to describe the pictures then please discuss each one with your child. Really emphasise the sound that the words begin with 'D-d-d-dirty d-d-d-dog" and ask your child "What sound does 'dog' begin with?"
Answer suggestions: Blue bee; smelly socks; yellow yoyo; tall tower; dirty dog; slimy slug; curly caterpillar.
As an extension - Ask your child if they are able to think of any other words beginning with the same sounds.
Finally, I would like you to have a go at this Alliteration game.
Let me know how you get on with it.
