To start the children should recap the sounds they have previously learnt, please focus on the sounds which your child is struggling with. I have attached the power point which I use in school should you wish to use it, one shows the phase 2 and phase 3 sounds and the other shows the memory words, please only work on Phase 2 and 3 memory words and then phase 4 if your child is confident with all phase 2 and 3.
Using the picture below can the children say the letter name of each alpha block and the sound that they make.
Today we are going to learn a new phase 3 digraph, a digraph is two letters that make one sound.
Our new digraph is ee, can you write our new digraph 5 times, making sure you write pre cursively on the line in one fluid motion.
Now it is time to practise your reading of words which contain the 'ee' digraph, read each sound carefully and blend together to make the word.
As always after we have read our new sound we write words which contain that sound, please get your child to write these words below, if you say the word to your child and they then use their phonics knowledge to write each word. The children should write all of the letters pre cursively, making sure ascenders are tall and descenders go under the line, I will be giving out lots of dojos for amazing pre cursive handwriting
If your child was confident writing these words can they think of a sentence they can write with one of the words, don't forget your finger spaces after each word and we finish a sentence with a full stop.
If you have time you may want to end with a game on www.phonicsplay.co.uk
Now it is time for you to have a break and a snack before your morning activity!
