Phonics

Our Monday morning phonics is always a recap of our previous learning, but as always lets recap our phase 2 and 3 sounds.

You can then recap your memory words focusing on the phase which your child is working in, you cannot sound a memory word you just have to know them. You can get the children to read them and then to write them from memory if you feel this is an area they need to work on.

You may also want to continue on your child reading some of the first 100 high frequency words, they should be able to read these words without needing to segment and blend them.

To start I want the children to practise reading and writing I have put phase 2 words and phase 3 words, you may want your child to read and write them all or you can select just one phase that you know they are working within. When writing the children should write the words independently using their phonics knowledge, they should be writing on a line, starting each letter on the line to write pre cursively in one fluid motion. The children may be in Reception but we focus on presentation from the start of the year, as always practise makes perfect, the children will get there with their pre cursive letters
