Phonics

Let's start phonics recognising our own name.

Please write 5+ different name cards (including your child's name) for your child to recognise and select their own name from.

The quantity of name cards can vary depending on how easily your child is able to recognise their own name.

I want to give out lots of dojo's for this task so please let me know how you get on with this task.

For todays phonics task we are going to concentrate on Alliteration again.

Today I would like you to play Silly Sound Soup with the letter 'C'

See what you can find around your house to add to your silly sound soup.

Remember to sing the song

"Today we're making Silly Soup, Silly Soup, Silly Soup.

Today we're making Silly Soup. What's in the soup today?"

Challenge: Can you think of any of your friends or family or any different animals who's name begins with the 'c' sound who you might put into your Silly Sound Soup?

If you do this really easily, you might want to try the game with another letter, too.

I would like you to send me a photograph of you silly soup or a short video explaining what you found for your silly soup.

Grown up's- please remember we are focusing on the sound of the letter rather than the letter itself, so your child does not need to recognise the letter yet- only it's sound.

Take a look at the video below to ensure that you are saying the letter sounds correctly to your child.

Letter Sounds

Your child does not need to watch this whole video! This is just for parents to refer to ensure that you are sounding the letter sounds out correctly as we would in phonics in school!

Well done, Nursery.

We will keep practising and repeating our letter sounds and Alliteration throughout Nursery to ensure that we completely master this phase before moving on.
