Now we are in routine you know it is time to recap our phase 2 and phase 3 sounds. If your child does not know the phase 2 sounds then you do not need to do the phase 3 sounds. It is important they know their phase 2 sounds first before moving on.
Can they remember our new phase 3 digraphs we have been looking at? (sh, ch, qu)
Lets look at our memory words. Can you remember any before we start? Look at the words below and tell your adults which memory words you see. Remember you cannot sound the memory words out. You just have to know them.
Yesterday we introduced the 100 High Frequency Words. You were asked to choose a few words to introduce to your child. Recap the same words to familiarise them.
Today in phonics, we are focusing on memory words. We would like you to hide the memory words around the house and ask you child to find them. When they have found one they need to read it aloud. At the end of the hunt collect all of your words and write them out in your best handwriting. If you know your child is comfortable writing the memory words ask them to write captions with the memory words. I have given you some ideas below. Remember to write pre-cursively and on the line.
Focus on the memory words:
he / she / be / me / we
she will go to bed
he is up the shop
we will go today
