SAFEGUARDING NOTIFICATION OF ACTION FROM WATERSIDE
I am writing to notify you that today outside of the school grounds, a suspicious male, was identified by the staff at Waterside, watching the children play during lunchtime from outside the perimeter fencing. The white male who was short, wearing black trousers, a purple t shirt and had a bald shaven head, was immediately challenged by staff and the police called as part of our emergency safeguarding practice and procedures. At ALL times ALL children were safe in the schools secure grounds. There was NO immediate risk to the children but after a series of updates in the media regarding incidents in the surrounding local area, the school was being highly vigilant. The leadership team immediately went into the local area to see if the person could be identified.
Can I please ask if your children are outside playing at home, outside of the school hours you remind them of stranger danger and be extra vigilant? School has requested immediate police presence in the area surrounding the school to send a clear message that such behaviour is not tolerated at any time.
I assure you the school grounds remain secure at all times and every single child is safe at Waterside. Should a further incident in the grounds outside of school occur, 999 will be called again. Should you have any concerns see myself or a member of the school staff at your earliest convenience?
Kind regards and vigilant eyes
