Morning activities

This week we are introducing a new book for our topic ‘life cycles’.

‘The Teeny Weeny Tadpole’ Written by Sheridan Cain.  Please discus the title and author of the book. Does your child know what an author is?

Have a look at the front cover of our book. Can you point to the title of the book?

Now you know the title, and looking at the illustrations on the front cover, what do you think the story will be about?

Once they have given a prediction of the book you may listen to the story together. Throughout the story pause and question what is happening to unsure your child is listening and understanding what is being read. Ask them to point to a character, where is the setting? Who is the frog talking about, what does he want to do?

When we read a new story we like to know the children understand key events through verbal communication and creative ways.

Ask these questions to your child.

Who are the characters?

Where is the story set?

What happened at the beginning? Middle? End?

We would like you to put your answers into drawings. Print or recreate the template below to represent the story. Once you have drawn your pictures we would like a word, caption or sentence to describe what you have drawn. Don’t forget to take a picture and upload it to your portfolio.
