Good morning everybody :)

I hope you have had a lovely, relaxing weekend and ready for a week of learning. This is an unusual start to out week but I know from seeing the work you have sent it you will be working super hard and producing some great learning.

Today we will start our morning with some singing, as I know how much the children like a song. In Reception, we are working on our days of the week and the children are fantastic at it. Before singing our song, can your child tell you what day it is today? Do they know what day it was yesterday? What day it will be tomorrow? How many days are in a week? Sing along to the song to help you.

Equally, it is important the children know their months of the year. This is a song we love to sing!

Lastly our seasons. We have been learning all about autumn last week and the children have a great understanding all ready. However, it is important we know all of our seasons. See what seasons your children already know before they sing. Do they know any seasons? What month’s seasons are in?

Every Monday morning before Phonics, we will take some time to sit and talk to the children as they have so many exciting things to tell us from the weekend so can you ask your child what have they done at the weekend. This is a great opportunity for children to develop their memory skills. Can your child recall certain activities they have done and tell them in the correct order? Can they recall what toys they played with? If they have watched a movie? This is also a great opportunity to support your child’s speaking. Are they using complex sentences to link their thoughts using ‘and’ or ‘because’.  Are they using the correct tenses? ‘I played’ not ‘I play’. We very much like hearing about what the children have been up to so feel free to send us some videos or message us with your weekend activities.

Now it is time for phonics smiley
