Monday 18th January
Good morning Year 1! :) I hope you have all had a lovely restful weekend and are ready for a fun filled week of home learning. Thank you to all of you who sent in your work last week - it is great to see you have been working so hard! Please remember to send your work in daily to your teachers. Before we start our learning today, we are going to wake ourselves up with 5 minute workout by Joe Wicks.
Phonics – (9-9:30)
Hopefully we are now awake and ready to learn. We will begin our learning today with some phonics. In phonics we are focusing on the diagraph 'wh' as in 'whale' and 'wheel'. Follow the flipchart to complete the activities.
In English, we are continuing with our work on Owl Babies. This week, we are going to be writing a woodland setting description. Today, we are finding out what the features of a setting description are, by looking at a WAGOLL (what a good one looks like).
Break time (10:30 - 10:45)
Well done Year 1, you are doing a great job, now time for a well-deserved break.
Grab yourself a drink and a snack and give yourself a brain break.
In Maths today, we are learning all about capacity. We are going to be investigating capacity using various containers and using vocabulary such as full and empty.
Numbers and Patterns (11:45-12:00)
Today in Numbers and Patterns we are going to be looking at doubling numbers up to 10.
Lunch time (12:00-1:00)
Today in Reading Skills, we are going to be looking at a new book called 'The Snail and the Whale'. We will be reading book and looking at the VIPERS skill of prediction.
Well done for working so hard today. Sit back, relax and listen today's story 'While we can't hug'
