Attendance

We ended the school year last year with 96.8% Attendance! Our aim for 97% this year

Friday 26th February

Yesterday we started our assessments and what a sensational job you did too. You all worked exceptionally hard to complete these and we are all so very proud of you.  Today we will continue with our assessments by completing another Reading paper, spelling quiz and phonics assessment. It is really important that the children complete these via the allocated live lesson slots.

I know it may be tempting to help your child if they are struggling but we please ask that your child's assessment is completed independently so that we can assess correctly and pin point areas for improvement over the next term. Thank you as always for your understanding, co-operation and support.

To get our bodies warmed up and ready for the day we are going to start with one of our favourite 'Just Dance' videos.

Phonics - 9.10 - 9.30

Today in Phonics we will be focussing on reading and writing the memory words water, where, who and thought.

Today in your English lesson you will be completing your final reading assessment. You must complete your assessment during your live lesson. You must not read the paper before hand.

I know it may be tempting to help your child if they are struggling but we please ask that your child's assessment is completed independently so that we can assess correctly and pin point areas for improvement over the next term.

Break time - 10.30 - 10.45

Well done Year 1! you have worked exceptionally hard this morning. It's time for a brain break, so go and grab yourself a drink and a healthy snack and relax.

Spellings 11:00 - 12:00

In this lesson you will be completing your spelling quiz. You must complete your quiz during your live lesson. The spellings you complete will all be linked to the phonics sounds you have been learning over the past six weeks. Remember if you are unsure of a spelling, where possible, segment and blend the word to break it down. Please do not worry if you are unsure just try your best and have ago. We know you can do it!

Dinner Time - 12.00 - 1.00

Reading Skills - 1.15 - 1.45

This week for our reading slot, we would like you to log on to Bug Club and read one of your allocated stories, answering the questions along the way. You should all have your log in details for this, but if you have misplaced them then please get in touch with your class teacher. We will be looking to see which books you have read and the questions you have answered. If you are having trouble accessing the site then we ask that you please read a story of your own from home. It would be lovely to see videos of you reading uploaded to your portfolio. We will be live reading with small groups of children on certain days - we will contact you directly with dates and times.

Phonics assessment

This afternoon we will be completing Phonics assessment. For this your child will be contacted directly through Teams for a 1:1 with their class teacher. Please ensure your child is in a quiet space and has a pencil and paper to hand. They will be asked to read and write the sounds within their current phase as well as the focused memory words.

I know it may be tempting to help your child if they are struggling but we please ask that your child's assessment is completed independently so that we can assess correctly and pin point areas for improvement over the next term.

ICT

To access today's Purple Mash work set, you will need to login using your child's login details provided by your child's class teacher. If you have misplaced these, please do get in touch.

For today's task you will be creating your very own story. We can't wait to read them.

Story Time 3:15-3:25

A sensational day of learning Year 1. We are so very proud of each and everyone of you for your hard work and determination you have shown over the past few days.

To finish off the day we now have story time live during your Teams so get yourself, snuggled down and enjoy today's story.

If you have not already done so please ensure your Phonics from this morning and afternoon learning is uploaded to your portfolio.
