Good morning Year 1! :) Its Friday! You have completed another week of fantastic home learning and we are so proud of you all. I hope you are all enjoyed the snow yesterday even if it had melted by break time. Thank you to all of you who sent in your work yesterday - it is great to see you have been working so hard! Please remember to send your work in daily to your teachers. Before we start our learning today, we are going to count to 100 with Jack Hartman to get our brains warmed up.
Hopefully we are now awake and ready to learn. We will begin our learning today with some phonics. In phonics we are focusing on tricky words. Follow the flipchart to complete the activities.
In English, we are continuing with our work on Owl Babies.
This week, we are going to be writing a setting description of the forest where the owls live. Today, we are going to be writing our publish write of our own setting description. We are going to be using all the skills we have learnt this week such as adjectives, verbs and sentence openers.
Break time (10:30 - 10:45)
Well done Year 1, you are doing a great job, now time for a well-deserved break.
Grab yourself a drink and a snack and give yourself a brain break.
Today in Maths, we are going to be doing a 'Fix it Friday' lesson where we look at topics that may be a little challenging. Today we are going to be looking at odd and even numbers.
Numbers and Patterns (11.45-12.00)
Today in Numbers and Patterns we are going to put all our work from this week into practise by mentally recalling our double facts.
Reading Skills (1.00-1.30)
Today is going to be our last day looking at the story 'The Snail and The Whale'. Throughout the week, we have been focusing on various VIPERS questions such as vocabulary, inference, prediction, explain and retrieval. Today we are going to finish the week off by sequencing the story using a story map.
Computing - Purple Mash (1.45-3.00)
For computing this week you are going to be using Purple Mash to complete a 2DO. Your task for today is called 2GO and it is all about giving instructions and learning about direction Log onto your purple mash account and click onto the 2DO - launch the app and click challenges. You will then be able to take on different challenges following instructions in order to correctly complete the level. You may want to challenge yourself further and create your very own.
Today's story is called 'Cave Baby' and its time to relax, unwind and get ready for the weekend where you can switch off from your school work and do things that you enjoy. Have a lovely weekend Year 1 - stay safe, keeping smiling and shining.
