Day 1
Reading- To sing several nursery rhymes knowing all the words using the video below.
Writing- To practise name writing, forming all letters correctly, pre-cursive letters are below.
Maths- Writing numbers 1-10, addressing any misconceptions the children have.
Afternoon Task- To do a self portrait using the resources available in the house such as pencil crayons, felt tips or even paint. The children should look at themselves carefully and choose the correct colours.
Day 2
Reading-Share a story with your child, can they answer different questions about what you have read such as, who is in the story?, what happens at the beginning, middle and end?, Where is the story set?, Did you like the story? Why? etc... These are really important skills for the children to have to develop their own reading skills.
Writing- To practise their pre-writing shapes, what shapes can the draw, which ones do they need to practise?
Maths- What 2D shapes can they find in the house and garden, what are these shapes called and what are their properties?
Afternoon Task- What animals do they think live in their garden, where in their garden do they think they will find them, can they draw a picture of the animals they think they will find.
Day 3
Reading Task- The children are now learning their phase 2 phonics, using the you-tube video below can they recognise some of the sounds they see, what words begin with that sound?
Writing Task- Can the children write any of the letters from the Jolly phonics video?
Maths Task-What numbers can you find in your house, what is the smallest number you can find? What is the biggest number you can find?
Afternoon Task- Do you have any musical instruments in your house which you can explore, if not can you make your own? There are so ideas below for you to use:
Day 4
Reading- Below is Miss Davies reading a story, can your child answer the questions as I read, can they answer the questions correctly, clearly and in complete sentences?
Writing- Name writing, all letters should be formed correctly. If your child is struggling they can copy over the top of your letters or copy them. There is a video below to support with letter formation.
Maths- Can the children find objects in the house which are tall and short, can they order them from the tallest to shortest. Take lots of photographs to share with us!
Afternoon Task- Free choice afternoon, the children should just an activity they would like for a long period of time where they are focused and concentrating.
Day 5
Reading- Using the phase 2 memory word video below, can the children read the phase 2 memory words, they cannot sound out the memory word they just have to memorise them and know them.
Writing- Can you draw a picture of a friend you are missing at school, think about the colours which you are using.
Maths Task- Can you find out what 3D shapes are, what makes them different to 2D shapes? Can your child find them in the environment?
Afternoon- It is important to keep fit and healthy, we want you to do 45 minutes to an hour of exercise, you can do it however you wish, in your garden playing football, dancing or even following Joe Wicks on YouTube.
Day 6
Reading- To Develop your child's Nursery Rhyme Knowledge, should be able to sing many Nursery Rhymes correctly and begin to make their own songs up. The video below is to aid your child.
Writing- Pre-Writing Shapes, work on previous shapes which the children were finding difficult.
Maths- Number formation, to continue to develop writing numbers and to focus on numbers which the children are finding difficult. The digit dance video below is helpful in developing the children's gross and fine motor skills.
Afternoon Task- Can the children complete a colouring, making sure they hold their pencil in a tripod grip and stay within the lines.
Day 7
Reading- To continue to develop Phase 2 phonics knowledge using the 'jolly phonics' songs below,
Writing- To continue to develop pre-cursive letter formation, children to hold their pencil in a tripod grip
Maths- We love the number blocks at school, they really help us to learn our numbers, can the children make their own number blocks, being as creative as possible.
Afternoon Task- The children should draw a picture of their favourite story, parents to write what the children say about the story and why it is their favourite underneath.
Day 8
Reading- The children should listen to the story read by Miss Davies below and to answer the questions, listen carefully to your child, do they understand what they have listened too. Ask further questions if you feel you need too.
Writing- Developing the children's fine motor skills is very important, see if the children can use scissors independently, can they hold the scissors correctly and cut snips in paper and cut out different shapes. Can the children talk about the dangers of scissors.
Maths- Can the children talk about weight, use the video below to support your child. Can they under objects by weight, from the heaviest to the lightest?
Afternoon Task- Allow your child to play for the afternoon, engage in their play and help to develop their imagination.
Day 9
Reading- The children need to know each letters name and sound, we use alphablocks to support this asking what the name of each alphablock is and the sound it makes such as a Lion is called a lion but makes the sound "ROAR!". Below is a video to support with this.
Writing- Can your child draw a picture of your family, can they carefully think about what everyone looks like, who is the tallest? What colour are their eyes and hair?
Maths- Number Formation, using the number rhymes to support can the children form a number correctly they couldn't before?
Afternoon Task-To use your technical device, this could be a tablet, laptop or phone to complete some educational games, it is important that the children are able to use technology independently but safely, CBeebies have many good games and activities for the children. Below is some E-Safety reminders for you.
Day 10
Reading- To look at the phase 2 memory words again, has your child remembered any words from last time, remember that the memory words cannot be sounded out, the children just need to remember them.
Writing- Pre-writing shapes, can the children now draw a shape which they couldn't before?
Maths- Can the children use the language of capacity such as full, half full and empty? Use various cups or objects for the children to explore capacity and to develop their mathematical language. Can they order the objects by capacity like the picture below:
Afternoon Task- Today is again Fitness Friday, can the children do 45 to an hours worth of exercise, can they talk about how they feel before they start exercise and after? Can you also discuss with your child the importance of exercise and why we should all exercise.
