Sports Premium

Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

Waterside Primary School Sports Funding 2017-2018 


In total for the academic year sports premium from September 2017 doubled as a government initiative.

This has given Waterside an allocated Sports Premium of £18100

We have allocated for 2017-18 £22, 356 (+4,256)

Access to wider range of professionals to deliver more in depth PE curriculum

Participation raised for Year 5 and 6 pupils in particular to inter school sports competitions.

Opportunity to visit wider sporting venues, ie. Northwood Stadium, etc.

Good collaborative support for our PE Leader to raise management skills.

Uniformity of PE kit to represent the high expectations of sport.

Increased rate of participation

Ensuring fairer access to all – wider variety of clubs and different experiences now accessed

Children introduced into a wide range of physical activity from an earlier point. Developing team work

Provision of Non Traditional After School and Lunchtime Clubs

The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity, pupil choice to take part in after school activities (72% of all children take part in a sports after school club)

The profile of PE being raised across the whole school

Participation in non traditional sports -archery, fencing etc.

Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of staff in teaching and assessing PE Broader experience of a range of sports and increased participation of competitive sports

All pupils to attend swimming in small groups of 20 pupils for quality provision to ensure accurate assessment and clear progression.

In 2016 - 17 we are projecting to focus on further high quality CPD, New Gymnastic equipment to allow mastery in PE and continued alternative traditional sports - e.g. skiing for our pupils.
