This week at Waterside we have been proud to remember the fallen heroes of World War One, 100 years on. Our year six pupils led the events with a class assembly that ended with a two minute silence. The whole school participated in an art event, which saw each class produce a piece of art along the theme of 'poppies'. It was truly touching when the children's art was then displayed together in the hall.
As a teacher, I often find children ask many interesting questions. This week, I was asked by one pupil, "Mrs Edwards, why do we have wars?" Sadly, it was a question that I could not answer. I was honest in my answer, but suggested that maybe we at Waterside could set a good example to the rest of the world by showing kindness to everyone, everyday. Hopefully they will notice.
Have a great week,
Mrs Edwards - SMSC lead.
