Reading at Key Stage 1
The children in Key Stage one are given 2 books at a time to bring home and read with you. Where possible we try to ensure that they have a mixture of fiction and non-fiction books to give them experience of different types of text. Books are changed regularly and we ask that you complete your child's reading diary to show when they have read with you at home - you can add any comments yo wish the teacher to read here too. Children in Key Stage also read with the class teacher, teaching assistant or a specialist reading assistant. The children are all heard read at least once a week in this manner, with those requiring extra support being heard twice or three times a week.
